Pediatric Pathology Position - Texas Children's Hospital

PEDIATRIC PATHOLOGY POSITION Department of Pathology, Texas Children’s Hospital

The Department of Pathology at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) is seeking a M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. board-certified or board-eligible pediatric pathologist for its Division of Anatomic Pathology. Academic appointment will be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine.

TCH is the nation's largest children's hospital and is ranked No. 4 in U.S. News and World Report's Honor Roll of Best Children's Hospitals. TCH is one of the largest pediatric solid organ transplantation programs with over 107 solid organ transplants performed in 2018. The recent opening of the Lester and Sue Smith Legacy Tower adds 640,000-square-feet to the TCH Main Campus, providing an additional six technologically-advanced operating rooms (for a total of 25 operating rooms) and increasing critical care capacity to 84 ICU beds and 48 CVICU beds. TCH is home to two elite programs, pediatric cardiology and heart surgery and pediatric pulmonary medicine, both ranked No. 1 by U.S. News and World Report. In 2012 the Pavilion for Women, a center for high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, fetal medicine and fetal surgery opened, currently with 6,000 annual deliveries and gynecologic services for adult women.

The expansion in the size and scope of an established and pre-eminent medical center for women and children necessitates additional support in pediatric surgical and autopsy pathology, placenta/perinatal pathology, solid organ transplant pathology, and cytopathology services. The combined annual surgical case exceeds 20,000 specimens from pediatric and gynecologic surgeries and obstetric deliveries with approximately 150 autopsies annually. The daily practice is facilitated by subspecialty gynecologic pathology, neuropathology and hematopathology services, as well as a robust genomic medicine reference lab. Located in Texas Medical Center, the largest medical campus in the world, this position also offers exceptional opportunities for collaboration and research activities across numerous institutions.
Pathologists at Texas Children's Hospital have primary full-time academic appointments in the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine, and are expected to contribute to educational and scholarly activities in the Department of Pathology based at Texas Children's Hospital, as well as pathology resident and fellow education.

Interested individuals must possess Board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology through the American Board of Pathology.
Candidates should be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Pediatric Pathology and must be eligible for an active, unrestricted Texas medical license.


Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Subspecialty interest in cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or renal pathology is desirable.
