Report from the Pathology Workforce Summit
Posted March 14, 2014
On December 3, 2013, representatives from twenty pathology societies met in Washington, DC, for a day-long Pathology Workforce Summit sponsored by the ASCP, the CAP, the USCAP and the Association of Pathology Chairs (APC). The Society for Pediatric Pathology was among the participants, represented by Charles Timmons, Secretary-Treasurer. The summit consisted of a structured discussion of a set of propositions, through which the organizations applied their interest and experience in training the medical professional sector of the pathology workforce to identifying knowledge gaps, needs, and potential action items. The overall goal of the action items is to enable more effective communication between our specialty and institutional leaders and national policymakers in securing support and funding.
