Pediatric Pathology Fellowship - University of Alberta/Stollery Children's Hospital

The Fellowship Program in Pediatric Pathology at the University of Alberta (UAH/Stollery Children’s Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital) is tailored to fulfill the career needs of the individual. The candidate will be expected to participate in diagnostic experiences across the entire pediatric, perinatal and embryofetal experience offered by two institutions within the city. Elective research time based on a viable submission by the prospective fellow may be negotiated during the one year Fellowship. There are approximately 3500 pediatric surgicals, 100 non-gynecologic cytology specimens, 1800 placentas, and 100 perinatal/pediatric autopsies per year. The fellow will be acquainted with pediatric neoplastic pathology, pediatric gastrointestinal disease including liver transplantation pathology, congenital cardiac pathology including cardiac transplantation pathology, embryofetal and developmental pathology, perinatal pathology, electron microscopy, genetics, and metabolic disease.
The Clinical Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric and Hematopathology Programs are members of the Children's Oncology Group (COG).
Fellows will be expected to participate in the teaching programs of the University during which they supervise pathology residents, junior fellows and undergraduate medical students rotating through pediatric pathology. Research activity is highly encouraged.
Letters of recommendation from three faculty members having direct supervisory roles in the candidate's residency training program and a transcript of the medical school record are required. A personal interview is offered to those whose credentials are deemed suitable.
