Pediatric Pathology Fellowships

Nationwide Children’s Hospital
Columbus, Ohio

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH), Columbus, Ohio, offers the following fellowship training opportunities:

1- ACGME-accredited Pediatric Pathology Fellowship training. Our program combines a strong curriculum focused on pediatric surgical and autopsy pathology, nurturing learning environment, and flexibility regarding electives and research projects. Fellowship eligibility requirements include a minimum of 3 years Pathology Residency training at an ACGME-accredited program and a valid ECFMG certificate (if applicable). Currently recruiting for academic 2021 and 2022.

2- Newly approved non-ACGME-accredited fellowship training in Clinical Pediatric Pathology (currently recruiting for academic 2021-2022). This Clinical Pediatric Pathology training program is a first of its kind, offering focused training including pediatric hematopathology, pediatric transfusion medicine, diagnostic immunology, clinical microbiology, and clinical chemistry. Our Clinical Laboratories perform more than 3 million tests per year.

3- We also offer non-ACGME training in surgical and clinical pediatric pathology for qualified, independently funded international scholars who meet sponsorship requirements set by NCH and home country academic institutions (start date and duration of training are negotiable - off cycle recruitment will be considered).

Learning and research opportunities are greatly enhanced by our department’s close association with the Center for Childhood Cancer and the Children’s Oncology Group Bio-pathology Center and Institute of Genomic Medicine (IGM). Our department is also home for the archives of the Children’s Cancer Group and Intergroup Rhabdomyosarcoma Study. These resources offer unique and wide opportunities to join cutting edge NIH-funded research in both basic and clinical sciences.
