SPP Membership

 
Depending on membership level, benefits of membership include:
  • Networking opportunities with pediatric pathologists from across the world
  • Eligibility to vote, hold office, serve on committees, and submit abstracts for presentation

  • Discounts to the spring and fall meetings, and Slide Survey program

Regular Membership
Pathologists, and other physicians or scientists engaged in the field of pediatric pathology or allied disciplines are eligible for Regular Membership. Regular Members are eligible to vote, hold office, serve on committees, and submit and/or sponsor abstracts for presentation at scientific meetings of the Society. They shall pay the established dues, which entitle them to receive the newsletter and include an online subscription to the Society's official journal Pediatric and Developmental Pathology. All applications are considered pending until approved by the Executive Committee.
Dues: $395 (US) per year.
 
Apply for Regular Membership 

Junior Membership
Physicians and other scientists who are actively engaged in formal training in pathology or equivalent educational or professional training with an interest in pediatric pathology are eligible for Junior Membership. Junior Membership shall be limited to the period of formal training and not to exceed five years. Junior Members may serve on Society committees but may not vote. They may submit abstracts for presentation at scientific meetings of the Society. They shall pay dues at the rate established for Junior Membership, and these dues entitle them to receive the newsletter and include subscription to Pediatric and Developmental Pathology. Meeting registration fees are significantly reduced for Junior Members. Note: When Junior Members have completed their training, it is their responsibility to notify the Secretary of the Society and request Regular or Affiliate membership in order to remain as members. Applicants for Junior Membership also need to submit a letter from their training director affirming their status (template available here). All applications are considered pending until approved by the Executive Committee.

Affiliate Membership
Affiliate Members are those with qualifications of Regular Members whose permanent residence is outside North America, and who do not wish to become regular members. Affiliate Members are not eligible to vote or hold office, but may serve on Society committees and may submit and/or sponsor abstracts for presentation at scientific meetings of the Society. They are not obliged to pay dues, but will receive the newsletter, and they may obtain online and print subscriptions to Pediatric and Developmental Pathology at cost. All applications are considered pending until approved by the Executive Committee. (Note: Members residing outside North America also have the option of being Regular Members, with all rights, privileges and obligations pertaining to that category).

Emeritus Membership
Regular members in good standing who are retired from active practice are eligible for Emeritus Membership. Emeritus Members are not eligible to vote or hold office, but may serve on committees and submit and/or sponsor abstracts for presentation at scientific meetings of the Society. They are not obliged to pay dues but will receive the newsletter and they may obtain subscriptions to Pediatric and Developmental Pathology at cost. All applications are considered pending until approved by the Executive Committee.

Sustaining Membership
Sustaining members are individuals who have made a minimum annual contribution of $1000 (US) to the SPP and who do not qualify for another membership category. Sustaining Members are not eligible to vote, serve on committees or hold office.

Honorary Membership
Honorary Members are individuals who rendered distinguished service or made contributions in pediatric pathology. Honorary Members are not eligible to vote, serve on committees or hold office.

Life Membership
Life Members belong to a special category of Regular Membership; this category became closed to the addition of new members in 1989. Life Members are eligible to vote, hold office, serve on committees and submit and/or sponsor abstracts for presentation at scientific meetings of the Society. They are not obliged to pay dues but will receive the newsletter and they may obtain subscriptions to Pediatric and Developmental Pathology at cost.
